Eye Treatments
We take an unbiased approach to recommending eye treatments.
Why should you choose Custom Vision Clinic for your eye treatments?
There are many eye treatments available in Yorkshire but not every treatment is suitable for every person. At Custom Vision Clinic, we take an unbiased approach when recommending eye treatments, because we have access to every good option now available. Because of this, we will only ever offer you something we would offer to one of our family members or one of our close person friends.
Laser Eye Surgery
The 1st generation of laser eye surgery was PRK which is part of the family of surface laser eye surgery procedures which includes LASEK. We don’t often offer these treatments because they have been superseded by later generations. LASIK followed surface procedures making the treatments more convenient with faster results.
The 2nd generation of laser eye surgery treatments began when medical device companies introduced femtosecond laser eye surgery (also known as all-laser LASIK and by trade names such as VisuMax or IntraLase). Femtosecond laser treatments are standard at Custom Vision Clinic.
The 3rd Generation of laser eye surgery began when Zeiss introduced ReLEx SMILE ™ laser eye surgery (also known as keyhole laser eye surgery) which is more comfortable for patients and avoids any complications associated with the flap created during LASIK.
In summary, Custom Vision Clinic offers
- LASIK
- ReLEx SMILE ™ keyhole LASIK
- PRESBYOND ™ Laser Blended Vision to correct presbyopia – the loss of close-up vision as we age
Lens Replacement
Lens replacement is the general term we use with respect to removing the lens inside the eye and replacing it with an artificial lens implant.
The most common example of this is conventional cataract surgery that is available on the NHS.
We offer premium cataract surgery to correct refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism alongside cataract.
We also offer refractive lens exchange – also known as ‘posh cataract surgery’ to correct refractive errors but with the added benefit of avoiding cataract in the future. Often, we recommend lens replacement for patients with presbyopia, if PRESBYOND ™ Laser Blended Vision is not an option.
Keratoconus treatment and surgery
Keratoconus is a disease state of astigmatism that has historically required a corneal transplant to address. At Custom Vision Clinic, we’d like to make corneal transplants obsolete and offer Corneal Cross-Linking (CR-3) treatment and Keraring ™ Instrastromal Corneal Rings to halt the progression of keratoconus.
