CET Event: Update in Refractive Surgery
At this lecture for Optometrists, James Ball, Caroline Thacker and Steve Naylor will cover all techniques in refractive surgery including Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE) as a treatment option in myopia.
The possible benefits of the procedure will be described and a summary of the evidence to support these benefits will be presented.
The different options in surgical correction of high myopia, as well as their relative merits, will be discussed: LASIK versus SMILE versus ICL versus RLE.
The presentation includes the recent advances in the surgical correction of presbyopia along with work on assessment of the quality of vision using standardized measures.
Through the consideration of implications of the publication of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists standards in refractive surgery, Optometrists will be able to offer their patients best practice and up to date guidance. Thus, optometrists will be qualified to maintain the standards of professional practice.
Besides that, different cases will also be presented as a means to discuss the options of surgical correction of ametropia and presbyopia.
Please join us at the Blackburn Wing, Bowcliffe Hall at 6:30 PM for this interesting lecture about the latest updates in Refractive Surgery.
